Evernham Wins at East Lincoln Speedway

(7/6/11) Stanley, N.C. -- Willy Evernham became the third different driver to win a race in the three races run so far this season in the LiquiFix U.S. Legends Modified Series. Evernham had a strong car from the get-go. Evernham started third and was able to stay clear of the early race incidents that occurred behind him. The win propels Evernham to the third position in the championship standings, where he trails leader Tommy Corellis by a thirteen point margin.

NASCAR Television Personality and former Sprint Cup crew chief, Jeff Hammond participated in the event, driving the No. 18 SPEED entry. Hammond, who ran several Micro Sprint races at East Lincoln in the early 1990's, was happy to return to the track. While he finished 8th, he accomplished his main goal of bringing the car home in one piece.
